Had time to watch the Catch-a-balls classes today as our new coach Lisa took over.  Often I observe that children find the greatest reward in success, so they catch the ball or throw the bean bag into the hoop.  Claps all round everyone happy.  But this week we have our wobble and reaction balls out.  Now these are affectionately known a "crazy" balls as they are not circular so do not bounce straight.  It is amazing how a room full of children can essentially be "failing" to catch a ball but have the most enormous fun chasing these "crazy" balls around the room.  Not one child or a single parent gave up bouncing these balls around the room.

Came across this article which is really interesting view on how youngsters develop.  As adults it's easy to forget that multi tasking does not come automatically.  We have to learn one skill, we can then add another and so on.  Children can't just take up a sport, there are many tiny building blocks to be put together individually, then combined.

For everyone with School age children take a look at the Surrey Youth Games websites, your local council will have details of the games they are involved in.  Great way to get children to try out new sports.

World Cup Rugby

I definitely prefer rugby to many other sports and this weekend has shown why.  For the home nations the games were fast, exciting and nail biting.  The results by and large went our way - sorry Scotland.  Just amazing to see the skill, focus and emotion all the players put into it.
